Every so often, Don José Cortés, the oldest living member of the Cortés family and the inspiration for the entire El Jolgorio range, comes out of retirement to oversee the production of only the most special mezcales. El Jolgorio Sierrudo is one of those magical moments. Maturing at 13 -15 years, Sierrudo is a subvarietal of Agave americana, meaning that it’s closely related to Arroqueño and Coyote. Like its cousins, it grows to be very large: the average weight of the piña can clock in around a whopping 230 kg, with such a high concentration of sugars that a single agave can yield around 15-20 liters of mezcal. Which is unheard of. The agaves for this release were cultivated in a wild environment (i.e. semi-cultivated) in Agua del Guaje, San Pedro Lachigoba, San Carlos Yautepec. Sierrudo is a special release for El Jolgorio. Offered in a distinctive black glass reminiscent of the black clay jugs mezcal was historically stored in, the opaque bottle accentuates the preciousness and singularity of the spirit inside.

In order to be eligible for a return the item must be in good condition and in the same state as you received it. The item must be in the original packaging.
